Biography - Johanna (Jana) Turcsányi

       

    
In 1976 Johanna (Jana) Turcsányi graduated from Raskyho College of Economics, Kosice, and until 1990 she was an Administrative Assistant to the Director General of the National Development and Investment Company, Czechoslovakia. 

During "Czechoslovakia's Velvet Revolution", Chief Warrant Officer Turcsányi, was the Chief Administrative Secretary with the Bureau for the Protections of Constitution and Democracy of the Czechoslovakia's Federal Security Forces. In 1991, Lieutenant Turcsányi became the Chief Financial Officer with the Slovakian Municipal Police Chiefs Association, and in 1997 Captain Turcsányi became SANMOP Assistant Police Liaison Officer in Canada. Major Turcsányi retired from Special Services in 2002. 

Major Turcsányi has also acquired additional professional specialized schooling in Criminal Justice that include Diploma in Law Enforcement and Investigative Science - awarded under a joint program between AIAS and  University College of Security Management in Kosice; Instructor Certificate in Law  Enforcement and Criminalistics from Police Data Automation Command Training Center, Canada; PDAC - White-Collar Crime and Financial Crime Assessment; and Halifax Police Department's Certificates in the following area of Crime Prevention: Community Based Policing, Block Parent and Neighborhood Watch, School Liaison Officer, and Police Venturer / Rover Program; First Aid Instructor Certification from Saint John Ambulance and the International Green Cross Organization, and she is a recipient of several citations, awards and Orders, including Halifax Mayor's Citation for successful coordination of the International project "Blue Thunder Tour of Slovakia". 

While in Canada, Major Turcsányi participated in several International Crime Prevention programs that includes: International program "Blue Line" - between Halifax Police Department, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and SANMOP; Halifax Police project "Blue Thunder Tour of Slovakia"; and the International joint project "Democratic Policing" coordinated by Saint Paul Police Department, Minnesota. 

Jana acquired additional professional specialized schooling in Business Management that include Diploma in Accounting from ICS Canada; Certificate in McBee Bookkeeping Computer Business System; Certificates in Leadership Development, and Certificates in Financial Management for Non-Governmental Organizations from Atlantic Region Learning Center; Workshop on Youth Entrepreneurship from a joint program between Canadian Youth Business Foundation, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and Royal Bank of Canada.  

From 1997 to 2002 Jana also acquired theoretical training and practical knowledge at the Nova Scotia Provincial Archives as a Genealogical Specialist and Probate Researcher. 

Since 2002, Jana holds following advisory and contractual positions: Chief Financial Officer with the Canadian Overseas Council in Europe; Slovakian Regional Economic Development Council, International Steel Corporation, and the International Green Cross Organization. She is also a senior staff Research Specialist and the Chief Financial Officer with Professional Directors, Inc.
